for what's.
Click-N-Type is an on-screen virtual keyboard designed to provide
computer accessibility to anyone
with a disability that prevents him or her from typing on a physical
computer
keyboard. As long as the physically challenged person can control
a mouse, trackball, touch screen or other pointing device, this adaptive software
keyboard allows you to send keystrokes to virtually any Windows
application
or DOS application that can run within a window. The
Click-N-Type
Virtual Keyboard requires Windows
95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP/Vista/Win-7
or later. There are other onscreen virtual keyboards around but
you'll
find
Click-N-Type the easiest to use for getting text into problematic applications. Try them all. You'll
see
they all work fine while typing into Notepad or WordPad, but when you
attempt
to do some real work, with all but the expensive ones, you'll get
really
annoyed really fast. The Click-N-Type Soft Keyboard was
designed
with ease of use foremost in mind. Oh yes, it's FREE.
If you need it, you can have it. I've seen too many people trying
to make money off disabled people. Of course, if you'd like to drop
Bridget a line at
with any comments, I guess I couldn't stop you. If you do, we can
keep you informed of any fixes and/or future enhancements.

Why the Click-N-Type Virtual Keyboard
was written:
A friend has a disabled sister who is a quadriplegic with some very
limited use of her right hand and wrist. That was just about
enough
to operate a Trackball and click her way through Internet browser
links.
When it came time to type anything in, she was stuck. Well, I
spent
more than a week searching for "On Screen Virtual Keyboards."
After
all, someone had to have written one that suited her needs. Sure
- There were free ones, Shareware ones of all prices, and some
commercial
"Buy it now, see if it works later" programs. With the exception
of one Hardware solution that came in at not much less than $1K, they
all
had one thing in common. Under most situations, they just didn't
work! After investigating a little more about how Win32 really
worked,
I decided to just write the darned thing and stop wasting time. I
also found it appalling to see how many people were trying to
Stick-It-To people with a disability for a product that would cost little or nothing if it
wasn't
targeted to people who really needed it.

We have made this software available as free
downloads, from our website, since 2001, and are committed to
continue doing so. We are determined to continue to help disabled
people with quality software free of charge, to those who
may not be wealthy, to the best of
our ability. As Freeware, many people are now using, and will
continue to use, Click-N-Type and its associated Add-ons, for
commercial applications. Some have kindly offered to donate to our
effort. Until now, we have been totally non-profit, and have been
unable to accept their offers. In fact, we have actually spent
significant money on development software
upgrades, Installer and Packaging software upgrades for every
new version of Windows, and hosting fees. In order to continue providing this
software for disabled people, free of charge, we are now forced to
simply request those who are not disabled to consider making a
moderate
donation to help us continue.

The CNTzip.exe download now unzips a self
contained setup program created by the wItem
Installer.
This is the latest Click-N-Type Virtual keyboard Version 3.03
Revision [412]. We now use the Microsoft Windows Installer to
keep
the installation as small and robust as possible. If you have a
very
old system that doesn't have the Windows Installer, it will be
downloaded
and installed for you before proceeding.
NOTE: This new Vista
and Windows 7 compatible version, and it's add-ons, have a problem installing
on older Win-95 systems. If you are installing on
a Windows-95 system please download and install CNTsetup95.exe
rather than the normal installation. It also contains Word
Prediction, so you won't need to download a separate add-on.
Note: Wherever you install to, that folder should be empty before
installing.
If you have installed a previous version of Click-N-Type it is
recommended, although not required, to Remove
it first. All your settings will be remembered when you
reinstall.
An English Word Prediction List that may be used with
the Click-N-Type
Virtual Keyboard is available here. Simply download the Words.exe
installation program to the left, and run it to install the Word
List. Note: this only works in conjunction with Click-N-Type and not
a physical keyboard.
For those looking for a stealth PORTABLE version
that can be launched from a USB Flash Drive, or other portable device,
please go to THIS PAGE.
Installation:
Just download the CNTzip.exe
installation
program, run it and follow the instructions. After accepting the
default installation steps, you will find Click-N-Type on your "Start
| Programs" menu. I suggest you read the Instructions to learn how
to use the "Options" menu to put a Click-N-Type shortcut on
your
Windows Desktop.
In the unlikely event of problems
finding the Windows Installer:
The Windows
Installer is part of all Windows XP systems.
Word Prediction installation:
If you want to use English Word Prediction and Completion,
download
the Words.exe installation program and
run
it. Allow it to extract its contents to the folder Click-N-Type
is in. If you accepted the default location when installing the Click-N-Type
Virtual Keyboard, this simply means clicking the "Setup" and "Install"
buttons.

Packs?
You'll find some by clicking here.
